Russia, China to create satellite fleet for high-speed Internet
ST. PETERSBURG, Sep 17 (PRIME) -- Russia and China will jointly create a project of a low-orbiting satellite constellation to distribute high-speed Internet, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov told reporters on Tuesday after a meeting of the heads of governments of the two countries.
“On other fields we have cooperation in space and nuclear power. As to the space agenda, the parties ratified (an agreement), and it came in force, and this year we’ll sign a precise agreement on points of location of the stations of (the Russian satellite navigation system) GLONASS and (the Chinese navigation system) Baidu,” Akimov said.
“We’re planning an interesting project of a low-orbiting satellite fleet to distribute high-speed Internet. We’ve started working on the project.”
